We’ve started 2024 in positive fashion, following the news that we have been shortlisted as a finalist within the Family Business of the Year category for the Central and Midlands region at the 2024 Family Business of the Year Awards.
Hosted by Family Business United and now in its twelfth year, these annual awards celebrate the achievements of family businesses across the UK – with the overall objective of raising the profile of the sector and uncovering companies who deserve recognition for the work they carry out within their respective industries and communities.
Following a lengthy judging process, Family Business United has announced the finalists for each region – with Colton Packaging named alongside businesses including The Wilkins Group, Sapphire Group and Quality Life UK, within the Central and Midlands area.
Paul Andrews, Founder and CEO of Family Business United, commented, “Family firms are the backbone of the UK economy and contribute significantly in so many ways,”
“Family firms deserve all the recognition they can get for all the good that they do in terms of employment, income generation and wealth creation, not forgetting their continued charitable endeavours and investment in the communities in which they operate,”
“Winners over the years have come from all corners of the UK, been large and small, multi-generational and in some cases are only just starting out on their journey. Above all, they share their underlying values, purpose and desire to succeed as a family firm,”
“All of those shortlisted deserve their moment in the spotlight and we look forward to crowning the winners in the summer.”A glittering gala awards evening will take place in London on Wednesday 19 June, with winners from each region announced on the night.
Laura Colton-Smith is delighted to see Colton Packaging nominated as a finalist alongside a long list of reputable local organisations, adding, “Since the business was founded in the 1850s, each generation has worked hard to uphold the strong family values on which Colton Packaging was built,”
“Our people are our greatest asset and we work hard to ensure that we remain an employer of choice both in Loughborough and the wider East Midlands – with each employee made to feel part of an extended family,”
“I think our customers respect the fact that we value the needs of our employees while working hard to make a positive impact in our local communities, with our services delivered by people who really care about and value what we are striving to achieve,”
Laura continues, “It’s a real honour for us to be shortlisted and we look forward to joining businesses from across the UK at the awards ceremony in June.”
